About University of Mannheim

For generations, the University of Mannheim has been preparing students to take on leadership roles in business, academia, and society. One of the university’s strengths in this task is its profile, which is characterized by the economic and social sciences. It is in these fields that the University of Mannheim has repeatedly been ranked as one of the top 20 European research institutions. Staff members at six schools and departments teach and carry out research in Business Administration, Economics, the Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, and Business Informatics and Mathematics. Researchers at the university collaborate with numerous national and international partners. The university has a particularly close relationship with the ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research, one of the leading economic research institutes in Germany and with the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES), which is the largest research institution for Social Sciences at a university in Germany. Every fifth student at the university comes from abroad to pursue their bachelor’s or master’s degree, or doctorate in Mannheim. “When I studied media and communication science in Mannheim, I was able to gain a lot of practical experience. I completed several internships in the field of marketing and communication and as a working student I was in charge of the social media channels at the Institute for Sports at the University of Mannheim. By now, I am employed as a volunteer in the corporate communications department of Deutsche Bahn in Berlin.”

Julia Frank, year of graduation: 2019

“Enthusiastic about the quality and diversity of teaching, I completed both my Bachelor and Master studies in Business Administration at the University of Mannheim. In the Mannheim Master in Management I benefited from the great freedom of choice regarding the courses and was thus able to deepen my knowledge and specialize. Meanwhile, I am doing my doctorate at the Mannheim Chair of Strategic and International Management.”

Martin Jerusalem, year of graduation: 2019

“At the University of Mannheim, I appreciate the landscape of initiatives that is unparalleled in Germany. That is why I became involved in the student initiative Enactus during my business studies and why I founded the NGO 246.education together with other Mannheim alumni, which provides education to children in poor countries.”

Christoph Findelsberger, year of graduation: 2017

“After completing my studies in sociology and political science at the University of Mannheim, I received my doctorate and became a management consultant at McKinsey. In 2018, then,  I founded successfully the app "Pattarina" together with a colleague, which projects patterns onto fabric using augmented reality.”
