The legal predecessors of University of Sopron have a long history with the oldest one dating back to 1735. Located beside the Austrian border, in the “Most Loyal City” of Hungary, it provides excellent education at four faculties specialising in forestry, wood technology, pedagogy and economics. Our academic offer includes programmes in three languages: Hungarian, English and German. Due to low student-to-teacher ratios, our students have the advantage of personalised approach to learning. The university provides all first-year students with placement in one of its comfortable dormitories. The campus is located in a nature conservation area, the Botanical Garden, which also serves instructional purposes with its collection of living plants. We conduct our programmes according to the European Qualifications Framework of the Bologna Process; all programmes have been accredited by the Hungarian Accreditation Committee. Sopron plays a special role within the region of Western Transdanubia, one of the most pleasant, fastest developing regions of the country. It is a real privilege to work, study, or live in Sopron. University of Sopron offers programmes within the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme at all of its faculties: the Faculty of Wood Engineering and Creative Industries, the Faculty of Forestry, the Alexandre Lamfalussy Faculty of Economics and the Benedek Elek Faculty of Pedagogy.
