GERMANY

Germany is the largest economy of the European Union and its most populous country. It is a major economic power, known for its strong manufacturing and research and development sector. Key industries include automotive, mechanical engineering and chemicals, with global brands like Siemens, BASF, Infineon and BMW leading the way.

The country is home to a world class higher education system, with top universities like the Technical University of Munich, LMU Munich and Heidelberg attracting students from all around the globe. The public universities are tuition free or charge very moderate fees even for international students, what makes them highly interesting.

Touristically, Germany offers diverse highlights. The capital, Berlin, is rich in history with sites like the Brandenburg Gate and remnants of the Berlin Wall. In Bavaria, the stunning Neuschwanstein Castle is a major draw. Other beautiful spots include the beautiful Cologne Cathedral, the scenic Black Forest and the castle-lined Rhine Valley.

With its large number of theatres, opera-houses and numerous festivals, Germany has a lot to offer culturally. During summertime the beer gardens and wineries are filled with people enjoying the rich traditional food and drinks. Very popular are the variety of sausages and Schweinebraten, not to forget about the Black Forrest Cake as a dessert. In the bakeries and butcheries you will find an unlimited choice of bread, cold cuts and cheese. Germany has a strong outdoor culture, hiking in one of the beautiful mountainous areas is very popular and in wintertime the scenic alps offer perfect skiing conditions. Most Germans love Football. Watching a Bayern Munich game at Allianz Arena is truly unforgettable!
