Hero Background

SWITZERLAND

SWITZERLAND

Switzerland invests in its greatest strength: its people. With over 3.3% of GDP spent on research and development, among the highest per capita in the world, we have made education, innovation, and human potential our focus.

World-Class Degrees without the Heavy Price Tag

No country has as many top-200 ranked universities per capita as Switzerland. Home to globally renowned institutions such as ETH Zürich, EPFL Lausanne, and the University of Zurich, Swiss higher education offers exceptional academic quality. Yet tuition fees remain remarkably moderate, providing students with value for money.

From Beautiful Mountains, Lakes to Safe City Streets

Studying in Switzerland means enjoying quality of life in one of the most secure places on earth. Switzerland consistently ranks among the top 3 most peaceful countries in the world on the Global Peace Index. With its scenic landscapes, clean cities, and reliable public transport, students can focus on their studies in a safe and pristine environment.

Where Global Ideas and Innovation Meet

Switzerland is a natural crossroads for culture, science, and diplomacy. Over a third of its university students come from abroad. Backed by a multilingual culture (German, French, Italian, and Romansh) and a long tradition of neutrality, it hosts the main European seat of the United Nations (UN) alongside major multinational headquarters in tech, pharma, finance, and hospitality, offering students direct access to global careers. Unsurprisingly, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has named Switzerland the world's most innovative nation for 16 consecutive years.

Living Costs

Switzerland is known for its high cost of living, and it is important to plan your finances carefully before starting your studies. However, these costs should be considered in a broader context: a Swiss higher education is a major investment in your career prospects that yields a high return, and tuition fees at Swiss public universities are comparatively moderate, especially when contrasted with those of other leading higher education destinations worldwide. To help prepare for your stay, we recommend reviewing the estimated student budget and consulting the individual university profiles for information on tuition fees and study-related costs.

Scholarships

In Switzerland, only few students at bachelor and master's level hold a scholarship or grant. Most students cover their tuition fees and living expenses through part-time employment and personal financial resources. While tuition fees are relatively affordable, typically ranging from CHF 500 to CHF 2,000 per semester, the cost of living is high. Funding opportunities are generally more widely available for PhD candidates.
